Bernadette Peters
Bernadette,
born February 28, 1948 , in New York was an American actor, singer and the
author of children's book. In her career of six decades, Peters has appeared on
television and film, and has performed in solo shows. She is an acclaimed
Broadway actor. She has won seven Tony Awards nominations (plus an honorary
award) and nine Drama Desk Award nominations. Grammy Awards were won for four
of her Broadway roles. Peters is regarded by many as the most accomplished
performer of the works of Stephen Sondheim. This early work, along with her
appearances in The Muppet Show, The Carol Burnett Show as and other television
shows was widely praised. Her performances in films like Silent Movie, The Jerk
and Pennies from Heaven were also well-respected. In the 1980s, her return to
Broadway saw her become one of the most adored Broadway performers. She has
also released several solo albums, several singles, and a variety of cast
albums. Apart from being a regular performer in her solo show, she has also
recorded six solo albums. Peters continues to perform on stage and in films as
well as on television with shows such as Smash and Mozartin the Jungle. The
actress has been nominated for 4 Emmy Awards as well as three Golden Globe
Awards. She has won one time.
